The North Coast Computer Project (NCCP) is an Australian group that helps people. It's a not-for-profit social enterprise, which means it works like a business but uses its money to help the community instead of making a profit. NCCP started in 2003. Its main goal is to help Aboriginal communities and other groups get the same access to technology that many people already have.

NCCP first began as the Clarence Valley Computer Project. Over time, it grew to offer affordable computers, fix broken tech, and provide ways for people to connect online. These services are for people with lower incomes and Indigenous people in the Clarence Valley and North Coast areas of New South Wales. NCCP has also worked on projects in the Philippines. They are a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher, which means the computers they provide come with official Microsoft software.

Awards and Recognition for NCCP

NCCP has received special awards for its work. As of 2005, the group had won two national grants. These grants were for a project focused on helping Indigenous communities.

In May 2007, NCCP won the Community ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) Innovator of the Year Award. This award was sponsored by big tech companies like Microsoft and Cisco. It recognized NCCP's creative ways of using technology to help communities.

What Are E-Hubs?

E-Hubs are special computer setups created by NCCP in community places. Each E-Hub usually has between 2 and 10 computers. NCCP installs these computers, connects them to a network, and gets them online.

To keep kids safe, the computers have special software. All computers come with official Microsoft software. Sometimes, the cost of these computers is covered by North Coast Technical and Further Education (TAFE). This happens when the computers are part of a TAFE course.

Communities can use these E-Hub computers however they need them. They are often used for:

  • Homework centers
  • Training rooms and classrooms
  • Public internet access

As of January 2014, NCCP had set up Community E-Hubs in many places. These include locations in New South Wales, Australia, and also in the Philippines.
