North Haven is a lovely suburb located in the Camden Haven area. This district is part of the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia. As its name suggests, North Haven sits on the northern side of the Camden Haven River. A bridge connects it to the nearby town of Laurieton, which is a bigger shopping centre.
What's North Haven Like?
North Haven is mostly a quiet place where people live. You'll find many homes here. There's also a small group of shops along the main street called Ocean Drive. It's a popular spot for people who are retired, making it a peaceful community.
A Look Back: History of North Haven
North Haven was very quiet a long time ago. In the early 1930s, only two families, the Ostlers and the Eames, lived there permanently. Later, a special plant was built near the mouth of the Camden Haven River. This plant was used for something called "rutile sandmining." Rutile is a mineral found in sand, and it's used to make things like white paint and even parts for spacecraft!
