North Salem is a small town located in Hendricks County, Indiana, in the United States. It is part of Eel River Township. In 2020, about 464 people lived there.

History of North Salem
North Salem was first planned out in 1835. A few years later, in 1839, a post office was opened in the town. North Salem officially became an incorporated town in 1899.
Geography and Nature
North Salem covers a total area of about 0.89 square kilometers (0.34 square miles), and all of it is land.
Nearby, you can find the Eel River and Big Walnut Creek. These waterways are great for fishing and offer beautiful views. The land around North Salem is different depending on where you look. To the east, you'll see flat farmland. To the west, there are deep ravines and lots of woodlands.

Old Fashion Days Festival
The "Old Fashion Days" Festival is a popular event held in North Salem every year. It takes place over the Labor Day weekend. This festival has been happening for over 40 years and features the largest parade in Hendricks County. In 2020, the festival celebrated its 45th anniversary, which also marked the town's 185th birthday!
