Noureddine Naybet (Arabic: نور الدين نيبت; born 10 February 1970) is a famous Moroccan former footballer. He played as a central defender, which is a player who helps protect the goal. Naybet played for big clubs in Spain, Portugal, France, and England. Many people think he was one of the best defenders in the Spanish league, La Liga, during his time.
He spent the longest and most successful part of his career with Deportivo La Coruña in Spain. This was from 1996 to 2004. Naybet also holds a record for playing 115 matches for the Moroccan national team. He scored four goals for his country and played in two World Cups and six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

Early Life and Football Dreams
Noureddine Naybet was born in Casablanca, Morocco, on 10 February 1970. As a young boy, he loved football and spent a lot of time playing in the streets. He was very talented and worked hard. Soon, he was noticed by a local club, Étoile de Casablanca. After a short time there, he joined Wydad Casablanca, a much bigger team.

Starting Strong at Wydad
Naybet began his professional journey at Wydad Casablanca in Morocco. He was a key player for the team. During his time there, Wydad won the Botola (Moroccan league) three times. They also won the CAF Champions League in 1992, which is a big tournament for African clubs.
Adventures in France and Portugal
From 1993 to 1996, Naybet played for FC Nantes in France and then Sporting CP in Portugal. He was an important player for both teams. He helped Nantes win a domestic cup and Sporting win the Taça de Portugal (Portuguese Cup) in 1995. He even scored a goal in the 1995 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira final, helping Sporting win that trophy too.
Becoming a Legend at Deportivo La Coruña
In the summer of 1996, Naybet moved to Spain to play for Deportivo de La Coruña. This was where he truly shined. He made his debut in La Liga on 31 August 1996 against Real Madrid.
Naybet was a strong defender and often played alongside Gabriel Schürrer. In the 1999–2000 La Liga season, he helped Deportivo win their first-ever league title! This was a huge achievement for the club. He also won the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) and two Spanish Super Cups with Deportivo.
Naybet also played a big part in Deportivo's success in the UEFA Champions League.
- In the 2000–01 UEFA Champions League, he scored a goal against PSG. Deportivo reached the quarter-finals that year.
- In the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League, he scored the winning goal against Manchester United. Deportivo again reached the quarter-finals.
- In the 2003–04 UEFA Champions League, Naybet helped Deportivo reach the semi-finals. This was a fantastic run for the team.
Time at Tottenham Hotspur
In 2004, when he was 34, Naybet moved to England to play for Tottenham Hotspur. He scored one goal for Spurs, which was in a thrilling 5–4 match against their rivals, Arsenal. After two seasons, he retired from professional football in 2006.
International Career for Morocco
Noureddine Naybet was a very important player for the Moroccan national team for 16 years. He played his first game for Morocco in 1990.
He represented Morocco in many major tournaments:
- The 1992 Summer Olympics.
- Two FIFA World Cups: 1994 and 1998.
- Six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. In the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations, he helped Morocco finish second.
