A Look Back: College History

Nunavut Arctic College officially started in 1995. But its story began much earlier, in 1968. That's when the government of the Northwest Territories created a place called the Adult Vocational Training Centre. This center helped adults learn useful job skills.

Nunavut Arctic College has three main campuses. These are like the main school buildings. It also has 24 Community Learning Centres. These smaller centers are spread out in different communities.

  • The main office for Nunavut Arctic College is in Arviat.
  • The Kitikmeot Campus is in Cambridge Bay. You can find it on Kangok Road.
  • The Kivalliq Campus is in Rankin Inlet. This campus includes the Sanatuliqsarvik, which is a training center for trades. It also has Kivalliq Hall.
  • The Nunatta Campus is located in Iqaluit, the capital city of Nunavut.
  • The Nunavut Research Institute has offices in Iqaluit, Arviat, Cambridge Bay, Rankin Inlet, and Igloolik. This institute helps with research in the North.

Nunavut Arctic College works with other schools and groups to offer more learning chances.
