Nye is a small, quiet place in Umatilla County, Oregon, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's managed by the county. You can find Nye about 8 kilometers (or 5 miles) west of Pilot Rock. It's located right where two important roads meet: U.S. Route 395 and Oregon Route 74.
The Story of Nye
Nye was named after a person! It got its name from A. W. Nye, who was one of the first people to live in Umatilla County.
Nye's Post Office
For many years, Nye had its own post office. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages. It opened in 1887 and stayed open until 1917.
