Nyla Rose is a famous American professional wrestler and actress. She is known for her powerful wrestling style. Nyla Rose works for All Elite Wrestling (AEW). She once held the AEW Women's World Championship.
When Nyla Rose joined AEW in 2019, she made history. She became the first openly transgender wrestler to sign with a major American wrestling company. Her championship win also made her the first transgender wrestler to win a major title in the United States. Outside of wrestling, she starred in the 2016 TV show The Switch.

Early Life
Nyla Rose was born on August 3, 1982, in Washington, D.C.. She has both African American and Native American (from the Oneida tribe) family roots. Growing up, she loved watching wrestling with her grandmother. She began her transition while she was in college.
Professional Wrestling Career
Starting Out (2012–2019)
Nyla Rose began her professional wrestling journey on December 8, 2012. She was 30 years old at the time. She trained with coaches like John Kermon and Christian York. Before joining AEW, she wrestled for many different companies. These included Women Superstars Uncensored in America. She also wrestled in Japan for groups like Pro Wrestling Zero1.
All Elite Wrestling (2019–Present)
Nyla Rose joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in February 2019. This was a big moment because she was the first openly transgender wrestler to sign with a major American wrestling company. She made her first appearance for AEW at their very first event, Double or Nothing.
At Fyter Fest, Nyla Rose showed a tougher side. She attacked her opponents after a match. This made her a "heel," which means a wrestling character who is a villain. She then won the Casino Battle Royal at All Out. This win gave her a chance to compete for the first-ever AEW Women's World Championship.
On October 2, 2019, Nyla Rose wrestled Riho for the championship. Riho won the match. However, Nyla Rose got her revenge on February 12, 2020. She defeated Riho on Dynamite to win the AEW Women's World Championship! This made her the first transgender woman to win a world championship in a major U.S. wrestling company. She successfully defended her title against Kris Statlander on February 29. On May 23, 2020, at Double or Nothing, Nyla Rose lost her championship to Hikaru Shida. In July 2020, she introduced Vickie Guerrero as her manager.
In February 2021, Nyla Rose competed in a tournament. This tournament was to decide who would challenge for the AEW Women's World Championship. She won several matches, beating wrestlers like Tay Conti and Britt Baker. She made it to the U.S. finals, where she defeated Thunder Rosa. However, she lost in the overall tournament finals to Ryo Mizunami. Later that year, she also competed in the AEW Women's TBS Championship tournament. She won her first match but lost in the semi-finals to Ruby Soho.
On April 16, 2022, Nyla Rose challenged Thunder Rosa for the AEW Women's World Championship. This match was the main event at AEW Battle of The Belts ll. Nyla Rose did not win the title that night.
In December 2023, Nyla Rose had a match in Oklahoma. Because of certain state rules about sports, the wrestling commission had concerns. AEW's owner, Tony Khan, supported Nyla Rose. He also spoke about supporting transgender rights in general.
Other Ventures
In 2016, Nyla Rose played the main character in a Canadian comedy TV show called The Switch. In 2022, she also helped write a comic book. It was called Giant-Size X-Men: Thunderbird #1. She worked on it with Steve Orlando and artist David Cutler.
