Early Life and Education
Néziha Zarrouk was born on December 12, 1946, in Jemmal. This town is close to Monastir. She studied Arabic and earned a master's degree. This allowed her to teach Arabic language and literature. She taught in high schools in Tunis.
Political Career and Public Service
Néziha Zarrouk began her political journey after Ben Ali became president in 1987. She joined the Democratic Constitutional Rally (RDC) party.
Role in Women's Rights
Starting in 1989, she became a key leader in the National Union of Tunisian Women. She even led its youth group. After holding several positions within the RCD party, she became a deputy minister in March 1995. Her focus was on Women's and Family Affairs. By November 1999, she became a full minister with her own ministry.
In 1998, Ms. Zarrouk represented the Prime Minister at a United Nations meeting. This meeting was about Women and Health. It took place in Tunis from September 28 to October 2. She proudly reported on big improvements in women's rights and health. She noted that women's life expectancy had increased by 22 years between 1966 and 1996.
Later Government Roles
In early October 2001, Néziha Zarrouk was appointed Minister of Professional Training and Employment. She took over from Faiza Kefi. She held this important role until September 2002.
Diplomatic and Legislative Work
In 2003, she became Tunisia's ambassador to Lebanon. She served in this diplomatic role until 2005. After that, from 2005 to 2011, she was the vice-president of Tunisia's upper house. This house is called the Chamber of Councillors.

In May 2019, Néziha Zarrouk joined the Tahya Tounes political party. She joined along with her brother, Mohamed Sahbi Basli.
