Making Music Together: Bloods and Crips
In 1993, a music project called "Bangin' on Wax" was created. It was a big deal because it brought together members from the Bloods and the Crips to make music. At first, many people thought it would be impossible for these rival groups to work together. But it happened! Ronnie "Ron" Phillips, RedruM 781, and Tweedy Bird Loc organized the project. Real members from both sides tried out, and the best ones were chosen for the album.
The album came out in 1993 through Warlock Records and was very successful. Another album from the Bloods and Crips, called "Bangin' on Wax 2... The Saga Continues", was released in 1994. After these albums, the artists started recording their own music for Warlock Records. The Crips formed a group called Nationwide Rip Ridaz, and the Bloods formed Damu Ridas I and II.
