Okechukwu Ukeje, known as OC Ukeje, is a famous Nigerian actor, model, and musician. He became well-known after winning the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) TV show. OC Ukeje has won many awards for his acting. These include the Africa Movie Academy Awards and Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. He has also starred in several popular films. Some of these films are Two Brides and a Baby, Hoodrush, and Half of a Yellow Sun.
Early Life
Okechukwu Ukeje was born and grew up in Lagos State, Nigeria. His family is from Umuahia in Abia State, Nigeria. He is the second of three children in his family.
Career Highlights
OC Ukeje started acting when he was in his first year at the University of Lagos. He played a main role in a stage play. For his first four years, he focused on acting in plays. He also worked on music during this time.
He then tried out for the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) reality TV show and won! His first movie was White Waters in 2007. In 2008, he won the Africa Movie Academy Awards for Most Promising Actor. He also received the City People's Award for Best New Act in 2010.
Between 2008 and 2012, he worked on many movies and TV shows. He was part of the TV series Wetin Dey (2007). This show was produced by the BBC World Service Trust. He also played important roles in films like Comrade and Confusion Na Wa.
OC Ukeje was in Black November (2012) with famous actors like Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger. He also appeared in the movie Half of a Yellow Sun (2013). This film was based on a book by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. He also acted in the film Gone Too Far. In 2014, he was named one of the highest-earning actors in Nigerian movies.
In 2016, he was invited to the Toronto International Film Festival. He was recognized as a "rising star" there.
Personal Life
OC Ukeje lives in Lagos, Nigeria. He got married to Senami Ibukunoluwa Togonu-Bickersteth on November 8, 2014.
