The 1999 Snakes Incident

Oakdale became famous for a short time in 1999. This happened when actor and comedian Steve Carell visited the village. He came to interview Raymond Branz, a local expert who studied snakes and their venom.

Sometimes, Mr. Branz's snakes would escape. This caused some worry among the people living in the village. Steve Carell has talked about this funny early interview many times over the years. He even mentioned it in a speech in 2022.
