Steven John Carell (born August 16, 1962) is a famous American actor and comedian. He is best known for playing the boss, Michael Scott, in the popular TV show The Office. He also worked as a producer, writer, and director for the show.
For his role in The Office, Carell won a Golden Globe Award. Life magazine once called him "America's Funniest Man." He has starred in many hit movies and TV shows, playing both funny and serious characters.

Early Life and School Days
Steven John Carell was born in Concord, Massachusetts. He was the youngest of four brothers. His father, Edwin, was an engineer, and his mother, Harriet, was a psychiatric nurse. His father's family was from Italy and Germany, and his mother's family was from Poland.
In high school, Steve played ice hockey and lacrosse. He also played an instrument called a fife in a group that reenacted historical events. This sparked his interest in history, and he later earned a history degree from Denison University in Ohio in 1984.
At college, Carell was part of a student comedy group and played goalie for the school's hockey team. He also worked as a DJ for the campus radio station, where he used the name "Sapphire Steve Carell."
Career Beginnings
After college, Carell worked as a mail carrier but quit after a few months. He started his acting career in a children's theater group and appeared in a TV commercial for Brown's Chicken in 1989.

On August 5, 1995, Carell married Nancy Walls. She was also a cast member on Saturday Night Live. They met when she was a student in an improv comedy class that he was teaching. They have two children, a daughter named Elisabeth Anne and a son named John.
Carell and his wife have worked together on several projects, including The Office and the movie The 40-Year-Old Virgin. They also co-created the TV series Angie Tribeca.
In 2009, Carell bought the Marshfield Hills General Store in Marshfield, Massachusetts, a town where he has a home.
