Steven John Carell (born August 16, 1962) is a famous American actor and comedian. He is best known for playing Michael Scott in the TV show The Office. He also worked on the show as a producer, writer, and director. Steve has won many awards, including a Golden Globe Award for his role in The Office. Life magazine once called him "America's Funniest Man."
Steve Carell became well-known in 1996 on The Dana Carvey Show. From 1999 to 2005, he was a funny reporter on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He then starred in many comedy movies. These include Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004) and its sequel, The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), and Get Smart (2008). Early Life and Education
Steven John Carell was born on August 16, 1962, in Concord, Massachusetts. He grew up in Acton, Massachusetts, and is the youngest of four brothers. His father, Edwin A. Carell, was an engineer. His mother, Harriet Theresa, was a nurse. His family's last name was originally Caroselli, but it was changed to Carell in the 1950s.
Steve grew up Roman Catholic. He went to Nashoba Brooks School, The Fenn School, and Middlesex School. In high school, he played ice hockey and lacrosse. He also played the fife and joined a group that acted out historical events. This interest in history led him to study it in college. He earned a degree from Denison University in 1984.
While at Denison, Steve was part of a student comedy group called Burpee's Seedy Theatrical Company. He was also a goalie on the school's hockey team for four years. He even worked as a DJ at the campus radio station, calling himself "Sapphire Steve Carell."

On August 5, 1995, Steve Carell married Nancy Walls. She was a cast member on Saturday Night Live. They met when Steve was teaching an improv class and Nancy was a student. They have two children: a daughter named Elisabeth Anne (born 2001) and a son named John (born 2004).
Steve and Nancy have worked together on several projects. They appeared in the movies The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. They were also on The Daily Show and The Office together. They even created the comedy series Angie Tribeca together.
In 2009, Steve bought the Marshfield Hills General Store in Marshfield, Massachusetts.
