A Look Back in Time: Oakville's History
Oakville has an interesting past! It was first settled in 1873 and was originally called Pleasant Hill. Imagine living in a place named "Pleasant Hill"—it sounds like a nice, calm spot!
Just a few years later, in 1876, the community got its own post office. This was a big deal because it meant people could send and receive mail right in their own community.
The Great Tornado of 1884
On April 1, 1884, something very powerful happened in Oakville. A huge tornado struck the community. This wasn't just any tornado; it was an F5 tornado. An F5 tornado is the strongest type of tornado, with incredibly fast winds that can cause massive damage.
