Early Life and Education
Odd Bondevik was born in a town called Sauda, Norway, on 20 June 1941. When he was eight years old, his family moved to Oslo. This was because his father, Kjell Bondevik, became a member of the Parliament of Norway. The Parliament is where laws are made for the country. His father was part of the Christian Democratic Party.

A Life of Service

After returning from Japan, he worked at the main office of the Norwegian Missionary Society. He first served as a secretary for their mission work.
In 1980, he became the General Secretary of the Norwegian Missionary Society. This was a very important leadership role. He held this position until 1991, when he became a bishop.
Odd Bondevik was made a Bishop on 17 November 1991. He then led the Diocese of Møre until he retired in 2008. From 1998 to 2002, he was also chosen to be the Preses of the Bishop's Conference. This meant he was the main leader for all the bishops in the Church of Norway.
He announced his retirement in August 2007. His last church service as bishop was on 10 February 2008, held at Molde Cathedral.
