Amir Mohamed el Khalifa (born on February 24, 1985), known by his stage name Oddisee, is a talented rapper and music producer from Washington, D.C.. He creates his own beats and writes his own lyrics. Oddisee is also part of a hip hop group called Diamond District. He used to be in another group called Low Budget Crew. Today, he lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Oddisee's Early Life
Oddisee was born in Washington, D.C.. His mother is African American and his father is from Sudan. He grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, and Prince George's County, Maryland. After finishing high school, he moved back to Washington, D.C.

Oddisee started making music in 1999. He has released many albums and mixtapes throughout his career.
Early Releases and Recognition
In 2010, Oddisee released an album called Traveling Man with Mello Music Group. His mixtape Odd Spring was even named one of the best local hip-hop mixtapes of 2010 by Washington Post.
The next year, in 2011, he released Rock Creek Park. This mixtape was chosen as "Mixtape of the Week" by Stereogum, a popular music website. He also released Odd Seasons that year, which was a collection of songs from his earlier EPs (short albums).

Oddisee continued to release new music regularly. In 2012, he put out the studio album People Hear What They See. The next year, 2013, he released The Beauty in All, which was his first instrumental album since Rock Creek Park. An instrumental album means it has music without singing or rapping. He also released Tangible Dream in 2013.
In 2015, he released The Good Fight. This was followed by an EP called Alwasta and a mixtape called The Odd Tape in 2016. An EP is like a mini-album, shorter than a full album.
His album The Iceberg came out in 2017. In the same year, he also released a live album called Beneath the Surface. A live album means the songs were recorded during a concert performance.

Oddisee's music style is a mix of different things. He was inspired by his parents' backgrounds and the hip hop music his older cousins listened to.
