History of Odebolt
Odebolt was officially started in 1877. This happened when the Chicago & Northwestern Railway built its tracks to this spot. The city became an official city on May 13, 1878.
The name "Odebolt" is quite unique! It comes from the nearby Odebolt Creek. How the creek got its name is a bit of a mystery. Some say it was named after a French fur trapper called Odebeau. Others tell stories about a "bolt" (like a metal screw) falling into the creek.
