Oden is a small place in Emmet County, Michigan, in the United States. It is known as an "unincorporated community" and a "census-designated place" (CDP). This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a city or town, but the government counts its population for statistics.

In 2010, about 363 people lived in Oden. By 2020, the population was 358. Oden is part of Littlefield Township.

Where is Oden Located?

Oden is in the southeastern part of Emmet County. It sits right on the north shore of Crooked Lake. This lake is a popular spot for outdoor activities.

A main road, U.S. Route 31, goes through Oden. If you travel southwest on this road for about 8 miles (13 km), you'll reach Petoskey. Petoskey is the "county seat," which means it's where the main government offices for Emmet County are located. If you go northeast on Route 31 for about 3 miles (5 km), you'll arrive in Alanson.

For the first time in 2010, Oden was officially recognized as a census-designated place. This gave it clear boundaries and allowed its population to be counted separately. The total area of Oden is about 0.61 square miles (1.6 square kilometers), and all of it is land.

Schools in Oden

Children living in Oden attend different school districts depending on where they live. Most of the area is served by Alanson Public Schools. However, students in the western parts of Oden go to schools in the Public Schools of Petoskey district.
