Ogi's Early Life and Music Journey
Ogi Ifediora was born in 1997 near Chicago. She grew up in Madison, Wisconsin. From a young age, Ogi loved music. Her grandmother often sang traditional Nigerian hymns to her. Ogi also went to family prayer meetings. These meetings included hymns, which helped Ogi discover her love for different and complex harmonies.
In high school, Ogi was part of the jazz choir. She also played the viola. After high school, she went to Northwestern University. There, she studied political science and legal studies. While at college, she joined an a cappella group called THUNK a cappella.
How Ogi Became Famous
During her last year of college, Ogi started an Instagram account. She posted videos of herself singing covers of different songs. One of these was PJ Morton’s song Alright. PJ Morton saw her cover and shared it!
After that, the famous producer No I.D contacted Ogi. They worked together to create her very first song, I Got It.
In 2022, Ogi released her first music collection called an EP. It was named Monologues. Ogi has also performed as an opening act for many popular artists. These include The Marias, Mahalia, Snoh Aalegra, and Paramore. In June 2022, she performed at Pharrell's Something in the Water festival. Later in 2022, Ogi performed her song "I Got It" at the BET Awards. This was her first time performing at the awards show.
