Ohaton is a small community known as a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada. It is part of Camrose County. A hamlet is a type of settlement that is usually smaller than a village and often does not have its own local government. Ohaton used to be an official village, but it stopped being one on January 1, 1946.
Ohaton is located about 15 kilometers (about 9 miles) east of the city of Camrose. The name "Ohaton" was created in 1906 when its post office opened. It comes from combining parts of the names of three business partners: Osler, Hammond, and Nanton. They were part of an important financial company in Winnipeg. Another community in Alberta, Nanton, is also named after one of these partners, Augustus Meredith Nanton.
