Okla Jones II (born September 23, 1945 – died January 8, 1996) was an important United States federal judge. He served in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.

Early Life and Education
Okla Jones II was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He went to Southern University and earned a degree in 1968.
After that, he studied law at Boston College Law School. He earned his law degree in 1971.
Career in Law
After finishing law school, Jones worked to help people. From 1971 to 1973, he was a staff attorney for New Orleans Legal Assistance. This group helped people who could not afford legal help.
In 1973, he worked for the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The ACLU works to protect people's rights. From 1973 to 1976, he led a project for civil rights in New Orleans.
Private Practice and City Roles
Okla Jones II also had his own law practice. He worked as a private lawyer in New Orleans from 1976 to 1986.
He also advised the New Orleans City Council from 1983 to 1986. From 1986 to 1990, he served as the City Attorney for New Orleans. This meant he was the main lawyer for the city government.
Before becoming a federal judge, he was a judge in the Civil District Court for the Parish of New Orleans. He held this position from 1990 to 1994.
Federal Judge Service
On August 25, 1994, President Bill Clinton chose Okla Jones II to be a federal judge. He was nominated for a seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
The United States Senate approved his nomination on October 7, 1994. He officially became a judge on October 11, 1994.
Judge Jones served as a federal judge until he passed away. He died in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 8, 1996, due to illness.
