Olabisi Oreofe Ugbebor, whose birth name was Grace Olabisi Falode, was born on January 29, 1951. She is a very important person in Nigeria's history. She became the first woman in Nigeria to be a professor of Mathematics. She was born in Lagos and studied mathematics at the University of Ibadan. Later, she continued her studies at the University of London, where she earned her PhD in 1976.

Early Life and School
Olabisi Ugbebor was born in Lagos, Nigeria. She went to high school at Queen's College, Lagos. After that, she started her university studies.
University Studies and Achievements
In 1972, she finished her first degree in mathematics at the University of Ibadan. The next year, in 1973, she earned a special diploma in statistics from University College London. She then completed her PhD in 1976. She was only 25 years old when she finished her important research. Her PhD work was about how tiny particles move randomly, which is called Sample Path Properties of Brownian Motion.
While she was studying at the University of Ibadan, Olabisi Ugbebor was the only female student in her mathematics class. This shows how determined she was! She also made history by becoming the first Nigerian woman to get a PhD in mathematics. Later, she became the first female professor of mathematics in Nigeria. In 2017, she was recognized for her amazing work and became a Fellow of the Mathematics Association of Nigeria.
