In 1892, Oldham Cricket Club helped start the Central Lancashire Cricket League. This means they were one of the very first teams in this important league. Today, the club has teams for different age groups. They have adult teams that play in the First and Second divisions. They also have younger teams for players under 18 and under 15 years old.
For a while, many of their professional players came from South Africa. For example, Mark Charlton played for them in 2006. Martin Smith was also a professional player from 2004 to 2005. In 2007, Greg Todd from New Zealand became their professional player.
