Olive, Missouri facts for kids
Olive is a small, unincorporated community located in the southeastern part of Dallas County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An "unincorporated community" means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
Where is Olive?
Olive is found on Missouri Route O. It's about two miles east of a bigger road called U.S. Route 65. If you travel south on Route 65 for about six miles, you'll reach Fair Grove in Greene County. Another nearby place is Elkland in Webster County, which is about six miles east of Olive on Missouri Route AA.
History of Olive
The community of Olive got its start with a post office. This post office opened in 1884 and served the area for many years before closing in 1907. The name "Olive" came from a Baptist church nearby that also had the same name.
