Oliver's Mount is a famous hill in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It's a great place to visit because it has amazing views of the town. You can also find a special monument there that remembers soldiers who died in wars.
This area is mostly known for its exciting motorcycle races. But did you know that cars have raced here too? That happened twice, in 1955 and 1956. The very first motorcycle race at Oliver's Mount was held in 1946. Today, it still hosts motorcycle races, car rallies, and car hill-climb events.
Oliver's Mount also hosted a new music festival for families in 2012. This festival was called 'Future Of Music - Oliver's Mount Festival'. It celebrated local and new music. The 'Auto 66' racing club and 'Red Cherry Music' helped organize it.
In 2016, Oliver's Mount was part of a big cycling race called the Tour de Yorkshire. It was the final climb for the third stage of the race. The hill is also home to a broadcasting tower. This tower sends TV and radio signals to Scarborough and the areas nearby.
The name Oliver's Mount comes from Oliver Cromwell. People used to think he placed guns there during the Civil War. However, there is no proof that Cromwell ever visited Scarborough. The name has been used since at least 1804. Before that, the hill was called Weaponness.
