Early Life and French Nationality

Olivier Kapo was born in Marcory, a city in the Ivory Coast. He became a French citizen on November 3, 1998. This meant he could play for the French national football team.

Club Career Highlights

Olivier Kapo played for many different football clubs during his career. He started his journey in France and then played in Italy, Spain, England, Scotland, and Poland.

Starting Out at Auxerre

Olivier Kapo began his professional football career with Auxerre in France in 1999. He played there for several years, showing his skills on the field.

Moving to Juventus

In 2004, Kapo moved to Juventus, a very famous club in Italy. However, it was a bit tough for him to settle in. He didn't play as much as he hoped because another great player, Pavel Nedvěd, played in his position.

Loan Spells and New Experiences

Because he wasn't playing much at Juventus, Kapo went on loan to other clubs. A loan means a player temporarily plays for another team.

  • In the 2005–06 season, he played for Monaco in France.
  • Later, when Juventus was moved to a lower league, Kapo went on loan again. He joined Levante, a club in Spain. He scored five goals in 32 games for them.

Playing in England: Birmingham City

On June 29, 2007, Kapo signed with Birmingham City in England. He joined for about £3 million. He felt his playing style would fit well with English football. He even scored a goal in his very first game for Birmingham City against Chelsea.

Short Stay at Celtic

On November 4, 2010, Olivier Kapo joined Celtic, a big club in Scotland. He said he chose Celtic even though other clubs offered him more money. He played a few games for them before leaving in January 2011.
