Omari Holmes Swinton, born on November 30, 1980, is an American economist. He leads the Economics department at Howard University. He also used to be the president of the National Economic Association.
About Omari Swinton
Omari Swinton is the son of another economist, David Swinton. He went to Florida A&M University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics in 2001. Later, he continued his studies at Duke University. He received his Master of Arts degree in 2003. He then earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in 2007. A Ph.D. is the highest degree you can get in a field of study.
Omari Swinton's Career
Swinton has been a professor at Howard University since 2007. He became the head of the Economics Department there in 2017. In 2019, he was the president of the National Economic Association (NEA). His main goal for the NEA was to help more minority students and professionals join the field of economics. In February 2019, he was interviewed by JPMorgan Chase about how people can build wealth.
