How Oncativo Started
Oncativo does not have an official founding date. However, people believe the town truly began when the railway line arrived. This was especially true with the opening of the train station for public use.
The train station belonged to the Ferrocarril Central Argentino (Central Argentine Railway). It opened on September 1, 1869. This event helped the town grow and become what it is today.
The Battle of Oncativo
The area where Oncativo is now was once the site of an important historical event. This was the Battle of Oncativo, which took place in 1830.
The battle was fought between the forces of two famous generals. These were General Juan Facundo Quiroga and General José María Paz. This battle was a significant part of Argentina's history.
