The project was first announced in July 2014. It was approved in December 2014. The building was officially named One Bennett Park in October 2015.
The building is named after Edward H. Bennett. He was an important architect and urban planner in Chicago. An urban planner helps design how a city should grow and develop. Edward H. Bennett helped create the "1909 Plan of Chicago," which was a big plan for the city's future.
