How Ono Got Its Name
There are a couple of stories about how Ono got its unique name. One popular story comes from the California Gold Rush days. Miners, often called "49ers," were looking for gold. When a miner's son would ask to go to work with his dad, the father would usually say, "Oh, no!" This phrase might have given the community its name. Another idea is that the name could come from a word in the Bible.
