Ora Namir's Early Life and Family

Ora Namir was born in Hadera, a city in Israel, in 1930. This was during a time called the Mandate era, before Israel became an independent country. She served as an officer in the IDF during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War. After her military service, she studied classics and English literature at Hunter College in New York City.
