The Oratory of Caballero de Gracia (in Spanish: Oratorio del Caballero de Gracia) is a beautiful church in Madrid, Spain. It is called an "oratory" because it's a special place for prayer.
This building is famous for its neoclassical style. This means it looks like ancient Greek and Roman buildings. The church is named after Jacobo de Grattis, who was known as the "Caballero de Gracia."
History and Design
A famous architect named Juan de Villanueva designed the plans for this church. He helped rebuild an older church that was already there.
Inside the oratory, you can see a lovely stained glass window. It was made by a company called Maumejean. Stained glass windows often show colorful pictures and stories using many pieces of colored glass.
Protecting the Building
The Oratory of Caballero de Gracia has been changed a bit over time. In the 20th century, the northern side of the building was rebuilt. This happened when a big road called the Gran Via was built in Madrid.
The building is very important to Spain's history. Because of this, it has a special heritage listing called Bien de Interés Cultural. This means it is a protected monument. It has been protected since 1956.
