The Order of Merit for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Spanish: Orden del Mérito Agrario, Pesquero y Alimentario) is a special award given by Spain. It's like a medal of honor for people and groups. This award recognizes those who do amazing work in farming, fishing, and producing food. It was officially started on February 27, 1987.

History of the Order

This award took the place of an older one called the Order of Merit for Agriculture. That first award was created a long time ago, on December 3, 1905. It became official on February 9, 1906. The new order continues to celebrate important work in these fields.

Award Categories and Divisions

The Order of Merit for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food can be given in three main areas. These areas are agriculture (farming), fisheries (fishing), and food (making and preparing food).

People can receive one of six different levels of this award. Groups or organizations can get one of three special plaques. The highest awards, like the Grand Cross and Gold Plaque, are given by a special government decision. These top awards can cover achievements in all three areas: farming, fishing, and food.
