How Oregonia Began

Changing Names and New Connections
Around 1820, this small settlement was known by a different name: Freeport. Later, in 1845, something big happened. The Little Miami Railroad built tracks that reached the village. This train line connected Oregonia to other places.
In 1846, a post office opened in the community. It was first called "Oregon." Then, in 1882, the name was officially changed to Oregonia. Over time, the local post office joined with the one in Lebanon.
