What Makes Orgosolo Special?
The Famous Murals
Orgosolo is like an open-air art gallery because of its many murals. These paintings started appearing around 1969. They show different parts of Sardinia's history and culture. The murals also share messages about important social and global topics. They are a unique way for the community to express its ideas and remember key moments.
A Look at Orgosolo's Past
In the past, Orgosolo was known for a historical way of life called "Banditry" in central Sardinia. This was a challenging period for the region. The movie Banditi a Orgosolo (meaning "Bandits of Orgosolo"), made in 1961 by Vittorio De Seta, shows what life was like during that time. It helps us understand the history and culture of the area.
