About the Original Starbucks

The Pike Place Starbucks is famous for being the first of its kind. It started a huge coffee company that now has stores all over the world. Even though it's called the "Original," its current spot is actually its second home.

A Bit of History

The very first Starbucks cafe opened in 1971 at a different address: 2000 Western Avenue. It stayed there for about five years. Then, in 1976, the cafe moved to its current home at 1912 Pike Place. So, while it's not the exact first building, it's the original store that moved!
