Ornella Muti is the stage name of Francesca Romana Rivelli, an Italian actress born on March 9, 1955. She is one of Italy's most famous actresses and has starred in many different types of movies.
Muti has worked with many well-known Italian directors like Mario Monicelli, Dino Risi, and Carlo Verdone. Outside of Italy, many people know her for playing the role of Princess Aura in the popular science fiction movie Flash Gordon from 1980.

Early Life and First Films
Ornella Muti was born in Rome, Italy. Her father was a journalist from Naples, and her mother was a sculptor from Estonia with Russian roots.
Muti began her career as a model when she was a teenager. She started acting in movies when she was only 14 years old. Her first film was The Most Beautiful Wife (La moglie più bella) in 1970. The movie was a big hit and helped her become a star.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, she acted in many popular Italian comedies and dramas. She starred alongside famous Italian actors like Ugo Tognazzi, Marcello Mastroianni, and Adriano Celentano. Her movies with Celentano, The Taming of the Scoundrel and Madly in Love, were two of the most successful comedies in Italian film history.
International Stardom
Ornella Muti is one of the few Italian actresses who became famous all over Europe. She worked with directors from Spain, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. One of her most famous European films was Swann in Love, where she acted with Jeremy Irons and Alain Delon.
Her role as Princess Aura in the American movie Flash Gordon made her a star in the United States. She also appeared in other American films, including the comedy Oscar with Sylvester Stallone and To Rome with Love, directed by Woody Allen.
In 1981, she was offered the main female role in the James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only. However, she turned down the part because the movie's producers would not hire her costume designer. The role later went to actress Carole Bouquet.

Personal Life

Muti has been married twice. Her first husband was Alessio Orano, an actor she met on the set of her first film. Her second husband was Federico Fachinetti. She has three children, and her oldest daughter, Naike Rivelli, is also an actress.
In 2008, Muti launched her own jewelry collection and opened stores in different parts of the world.
In 2015, she had a legal issue with a theater. She had to cancel a performance due to a health problem. The court decided she needed to pay a fee to the theater as compensation, which she did.
Muti has a close connection to her mother's Russian heritage. In 2022, she said she would like to become a Russian citizen to honor her mother, who had passed away.
