About His Life
Óscar Alfaro started studying law at a big university called Universidad Mayor de San Simón in Cochabamba, but he didn't finish his degree. Instead, he became a teacher. Óscar Alfaro was very interested in social issues and wanted to show the daily lives and traditions of people in Bolivia through his writing. Many of his poems were put to music by different composers, including the famous singer-songwriter Nilo Soruco.
