History of Ostrander
Ostrander was first planned out in 1852. It officially became a village in 1875. The village is named after Shelemiah Ostrander. He was an important official for the railroad at that time.
The village was built along the CCC&I Railroad. This railroad was very important for Ostrander for many years. It helped the village grow and connect with other places. The train tracks were removed in 1971. However, you can still see parts of its railroad past. There is a railroad bridge over Blues Creek that reminds everyone of its history.
