Early Life and Moving to Argentina
Osvaldo Laport grew up in Juan Lacaze, Uruguay. His parents were Rubens Sixto and Teresa Natividad. When he was young, he worked many different jobs. In 1976, he moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina. There, he started studying acting at Luis Tasca's Drama School. To pay for his classes and his room, he worked as a clown, a warehouse worker, and even a bricklayer.
Starting His Acting Career
In 1979, Osvaldo met Viviana Sáez at the same drama school. They got married the next year and later had a daughter named Jazmín in 1995.
His drama teacher, Luis Tasca, gave him his first acting job in a play called Adiós Juventud. His performance caught the eye of Santiago Doria. Santiago then offered Osvaldo the main role in a famous play by Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest.
First TV Roles and Big Success
In 1983, Luis Tasca helped Osvaldo get a small part in the TV show Cara a Cara. This show starred Verónica Castro. Osvaldo became more and more successful on TV during the 1980s. In 1990, he got a main role in a new version of the TV show Pobre diabla. He acted alongside Jeanette Rodríguez.
The next year, he got his first lead role in Cosecharás Tu Siembra. He acted with Luisa Kuliok. One of his biggest achievements was winning a Martin Fierro Award in 1999 for his role as Guido Guevara in Campeones de la Vida. This award is very important in Argentine television.

In 2006, Osvaldo Laport became a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. This means he works with the United Nations to help refugees and people who have been forced to leave their homes.
