Arnoglossum ovatum is a cool plant found in Florida and other parts of the southern United States. It's also known as the ovateleaf cacalia. This plant is part of the sunflower family, which includes many well-known flowers like daisies and sunflowers!
About the Ovateleaf Cacalia
Arnoglossum ovatum is a really tall plant. It can grow up to 300 centimeters (that's about 10 feet or 120 inches) high! Imagine a plant taller than most grown-ups.
What It Looks Like
This plant has many small flower heads. These flower heads are usually white or a light green color. Sometimes, they might have a little bit of purple. Even though the flower heads are small, there are lots of them!
Where It Grows
You can find Arnoglossum ovatum in different places across the southeastern and south-central United States. Its home ranges from southern North Carolina all the way to eastern Texas.
It likes to grow in sandy areas, like sandy woods. You might also spot it in wide-open grassy areas called savannahs. Sometimes, it even grows along the sides of roads!
