P.J. Akeeagok's Political Journey

On January 18, 2024, something very important happened. The governments of Canada and Nunavut signed an agreement. It is called the Nunavut Lands and Resources Devolution Agreement. This agreement gives the government of Nunavut control over its own land and natural resources. This was the biggest land transfer in Canada's history. It means Nunavut can now make more decisions about its future.
Vote of Confidence
In November 2024, another politician, Solomon Malliki, asked for a "motion of no confidence" against Akeeagok. This is a vote to see if other politicians still trust the leader. Malliki said that Akeeagok was not communicating well. He also claimed there was a "toxic environment" in the legislature. However, Akeeagok survived the vote. He received support from his cabinet members and three other politicians.
Future Plans
