Pabellón de Hidalgo is a small town in Aguascalientes, Mexico. About 4,630 people lived there in 2020. It is part of the Rincón de Romos area.
This town is famous for a big event in Mexican history. After the rebels lost the Battle of Calderón Bridge, they came to the Hacienda de San Blas here. It was at this hacienda that Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a leader of the Mexican independence movement, was removed from his command. On June 27, 2023, Pabellón de Hidalgo was given the special title of Pueblo Mágico. This means "Magical Town," and it's a title given by the Secretariat of Tourism to towns with unique history, culture, or natural beauty.
Museum of the Insurgency: A Look at History
The Museum of the Insurgency is located in what used to be the Hacienda de San Blas. A hacienda was a large estate or farm, often with a main house. This museum opened on October 17, 1967. It helps us remember important events from when Mexico fought for its independence.
Inside the museum, you can see amazing murals by an artist named Alfredo Flores Zermeno. These murals show important cultural, political, and social moments from the last two centuries in Mexico, covering the years 1810 to 2010.
You can find the museum on the western side of Plaza 24 de Enero, at number 19. The Templo de San Blas en Pabellón de Hidalgo, which is a church, is located on the northern side of the same plaza.
