Pablo Motos Burgos (born on August 31, 1965) is a famous Spanish comedian, writer, and TV host. He is best known for creating and presenting El Hormiguero, which is a very popular Spanish television show.

Early Life and Beginnings

Pablo Motos was born in Requena, Spain. His mother, Amelia Burgos, sometimes appeared on his show El Hormiguero. She passed away in December 2018. When he was younger, Pablo completed his military service in Ceuta, where he also worked as a receptionist.

His Journey in Media

Starting on the Radio

Pablo Motos began his career working in radio. He hosted and directed several shows for different radio stations, like Radio Nacional and Onda Cero in Valencia. From 2002 to 2007, he hosted a popular morning show called No somos nadie on M80 Radio. He left this show to focus on his new television project, El Hormiguero.

Becoming a TV Host

On television, Pablo Motos presented a movie show called Megacine. He also helped create El club de la comedia, a comedy show, and wrote scripts for it.

In September 2006, he started presenting and directing El Hormiguero on the Cuatro TV channel. At first, it was a weekly show, but it became so popular that it soon aired four times a week. In 2011, the show moved to Antena 3 and was renamed El Hormiguero 3.0. It has remained one of the highest-rated shows in Spain ever since. On the show, Pablo often interacts with two puppet ants named Trancas and Barrancas, who are very funny.

Because of the show's success, Pablo Motos even hosted the traditional New Year's Eve show for Cuatro in 2007, alongside his ant friends.

Music and Other Projects

Pablo Motos has also been involved in music. In 1993, he co-wrote the lyrics for a song called Sabed amigos, which won the Benidorm International Song Festival. He also worked with the singer Melendi on a song called Marco. The money from this song was given to a charity that helps people with Cystic Fibrosis. Melendi is also a frequent guest on El Hormiguero.

Pablo has worked in theatre, helping to write and direct comedy plays. He also appeared in a play called Entre fuerte y flojo.

You might have also heard Pablo Motos's voice in commercials! He has done voice-overs for big brands like Coca-Cola and McDonald's, and appeared in ads for Binaca and Visa.

Behind the Scenes: Producing Shows

In 2008, Pablo Motos started his own production company called 7yAcción with Jorge Salvador. This company produces El Hormiguero. They have also created other TV shows, including Guerra de sesos (2008), Tonterias las Justas (2010), Otra movida (2011), and Así nos va (2013).

In 2021, Pablo and Jorge created another very successful game show for Antena 3 called El desafío. This show is based on some of the exciting challenges and stunts that are often seen on El Hormiguero. Pablo even performed a song on the show during its first season.

Voice Acting and Movie Cameos

Pablo Motos has also lent his voice to movies. He voiced a doll in the Spanish version of Toy Story 3. He also made small appearances, called cameos, in the movies Torrente 4: Lethal Crisis and Torrente 5: Operación Eurovegas, which were directed by his friend Santiago Segura.

Personal Life

Pablo Motos's first marriage ended. He later married Laura Llopis, whom he met while working in radio in Valencia. They have been together for over thirty years. Laura and her two children from a previous relationship, Laura and Cristina Correa, all work on the production team of El Hormiguero.
