History of Pachuta
Pachuta was started in the 1880s. It got its name from a nearby stream called Pachuta Creek.
Geography and Location
Pachuta is in the western part of Clarke County. It is located at coordinates 32°2′28″N 88°53′1″W / 32.04111°N 88.88361°W.
Roads and Travel
U.S. Route 11 goes right through the middle of town. This road leads north about 27 miles (43 km) to Meridian. It also goes south about 29 miles (47 km) to Laurel.
Mississippi Highway 18 crosses US 11 in the town center. If you go east on Highway 18, it's about 13 miles (21 km) to Quitman. Quitman is the main town for the county. Going west on Highway 18, it's about 31 miles (50 km) to Bay Springs.
