Paco Camarasa's Club Career
Paco Camarasa was born in Rafelbunyol, Valencian Community, a town in Spain. He spent his entire professional playing career, which lasted 13 seasons, with just one club: Valencia CF. This makes him a "one-club man," meaning he played for only one team throughout his career.
Starting at Valencia CF
Paco first joined Valencia's main team during the 1987–88 season. At that time, Valencia had just returned to La Liga, which is Spain's top football league. He played one game in his first season. Over time, he became a very important player for the team. He played in 333 official matches for Valencia.
Later Years and Retirement
Towards the end of his career, Paco faced some challenges. Injuries and a dip in his playing form meant he played fewer matches. For example, he only appeared in 11 La Liga games over his last four seasons.
However, he was still part of the Valencia team that won the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) in 1999. He retired from playing football in June 2000, when he was almost 33 years old.
After Playing Football
After retiring as a player, Paco Camarasa continued to work at the Mestalla Stadium, which is Valencia CF's home ground. He worked as a match delegate, helping to organize games. In March 2020, he was one of several people connected to the club who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus during the global pandemic.
Paco Camarasa's International Career
Paco also played for the Spanish national team. He earned 14 caps, which means he played in 14 international matches for his country.
Playing in the World Cup
He was part of the Spanish squad for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. During the tournament, he played for 13 minutes in a group stage match against Germany. He came on as a substitute for Pep Guardiola. Paco also played the entire game in the round-of-16 match, where Spain beat Switzerland 3–0.
