History of the Palace
The Palace of la Bolsa de Madrid was built for a very important purpose. It was designed to be the home of Spain's main stock exchange, called the Bolsa de Madrid. A stock exchange is a place where people buy and sell parts of companies.
The palace officially opened its doors in 1893. The Queen Regent of Spain at the time, Maria Cristina, was there for the opening. A Queen Regent is someone who rules a country when the king or queen is too young. The Bolsa de Madrid still uses this historic building today.
