Palermo is a town and a special area called a municipality in the Huila Department of Colombia. It is sometimes called the "Marble Capital of Colombia" because of its marble industry. This town was once known by a different name, Guagua.

History of Palermo
Palermo has a long history. It was first set up as a parish in 1690. Later, on January 7, 1774, it officially became a municipality. A municipality is like a local government area. The town got its current name, Palermo, in 1906.
