Palmer is a small village located in Merrick County, Nebraska, in the United States. In 2020, about 439 people lived there. It's considered part of the larger Grand Island metropolitan area.
A Look Back in Time
Palmer began in the 1880s. This happened after the Lincoln and Black Hills Railroad was built through the area. The village was named after H. E. Palmer, who was an important official for the railroad company.
Where is Palmer?
Palmer is found in the northwestern part of Merrick County. It is about 20 miles (32 km) northwest of Central City, which is the main town of the county. It's also about 12 miles (19 km) east of St. Paul. The village is located just 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Nebraska Highway 92.
