Dudleya palmeri is a really interesting succulent plant often called Palmer's liveforever. It's a type of plant that stores water in its thick leaves, helping it survive in dry places. This special plant is only found in California, growing along the coastline in areas like San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.
What Does Palmer's Liveforever Look Like?
Dudleya palmeri grows in a shape called a basal rosette. Imagine a circle of leaves spreading out from the center, a bit like a rose. This rosette can be up to 20 centimeters (about 8 inches) wide. It usually has up to 25 long, pointed leaves. These leaves can be light green, bright green, or sometimes even have a pretty pink tint.
From the center of the plant, a tall stem grows upwards. This stem can be pink or green. At the top of the stem, there's a small, branching group of flowers called an inflorescence. This plant can produce up to 40 flowers on one stem! Each flower is small, about one to two centimeters long. They can be yellow, red, or pink, and their petals are pointed.
