A section of the old rail line, from Burkville to Pamplin City, has been turned into a fun place for outdoor activities. It is now called the High Bridge Trail State Park.
Recently, the High Bridge Trail was made even longer. It used to end about a mile from town. But thanks to a partnership with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation and the local counties, the trail now reaches right into Pamplin City. It ends close to the main street where businesses are located. This project is helping the town grow and become a more lively place. The new part of the trail opened on April 22, 2024.
